BREAKFAST MEETING ON POLICY OPTIONS TO SUPPORT PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENT FOR CLIMATE-RESILIENT AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAINS IN UGANDA

Abstract:

A breakfast meeting to discuss policy options to stimulate private sector investment in climate-resilient agricultural value chains was held on the 4th of February 2016 in Kampala. It was organized by the Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance Economic Planning and Development (MoFPED). The objectives of the meeting were: i) To share the findings of a research project, ‘Private Sector Investment in a Changing Climate: Resilient Rice Value Chains (PSI-Climate)’ with policymakers and other stakeholders so as to raise awareness of climate impacts on agricultural value chains ii) To introduce options for the private sector to support climate risk management (CRM) along agricultural value chains iii) To identify openings in existing policies and policy development processes to support implementation of the priority options iv) To discuss policy options to create an enabling environment for domestic private sector investment in CRM along agricultural value chains
