Livelihoods and rural poverty reduction in Uganda.
Authors/Editors: Godfrey Bahiigwa , Frank EIIis
Abstract:
Description This working paper is part of LADDER (Livelihoods and Diversification Directions Explored by Research), a multi-country research project funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID). Examining nearly 40 villages and 1,200 households across Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Kenya, the project investigates how institutional structures either facilitate or hinder rural populations from improving their living standards. Representing work-in-progress research, this paper contributes empirical findings on rural livelihood strategies and micro-macro policy connections to inform effective poverty reduction frameworks across East and Southern Africa.
